44% Grenache, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, 10% Petite Sirah.
Farming grapes at nearly 2000 feet on hillsides with virtually no topsoil on top of layer upon layer of rock is an adventure in itself.  This wine reminds us that in great stories of adventure and passion, the word typical is rarely used.  While at only 26%, the Cabernet carries a lot of weight with currants, cassis, and hints of tobacco. Grenache offers up bright fruit and a luxurious silky mid palate weight to the wine. Syrah brings interest and depth with more savory components and the black fruits and tannic backbone of the Petit Sirah provides structure. All of these distinctively different facets of the wine share a common thread in their underlying minerality and acidity stemming from the dirt itself.  This brings the wine together and gives potentially unlikely candidates a remarkable harmony and balance and a sense of place.
