When we planted Law Vineyards we anticipated the Grenache being incredible. We then opted to blend a fair bit of Syrah for its reliability from vintage to vintage in our area and its flexibility as a blending component. We planted 5 clonal selection on 5 different blocks each with a subtly different aspect. As expected it does amazing things in our blends. What surprised us a little bit was how incredibly good it would be on its own. Utilizing punch downs for cap management and a long slow fermentation we manage to get wines with incredible texture and weight with plenty of acid to keep them fresh and never cumbersome. A variety of coopers, forest selections and toast levels are used to age the wines in a manner that helps the wine develop but respects the nature of the fruit.
