38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Syrah, 18% Grenache, 8% Petite Sirah
The long slow growing season in 2011 truly delivered some remarkable grapes at Law Vineyard across and array of varietals. Audacious gives us an opportunity to showcase this without the limitations of adhering to any one family of varietals. The Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in some pretty tough mountain soils and delivers deep red fruits and herbal undertones with fantastic tannin and structure. The Syrah is an Australian clone that is rich and silky with dark blue and black fruits. Grenache from a west facing Alban clone contributes bright fruit and great acidity while the Petite Sirah adds yet another layer of structure with more rustic notes. Once again these are fermented separately. This wine receives the highest percentage of new oak at around 60%. The 2011 Audacious, like all Law wines, will certainly show well in its youth, but will truly shine with some extended bottle aging.
