Audacious is a showcase wine from the Law Vineyard without the limitations of adhering to any one family of varietals. In its third vintage, this wine continues to impress with everlasting complexity, structure and balance due to how well each component complements each other. The Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in challenging mountain soils and delivers deep red fruits and herbal undertones and is built with fantastic tannin and structure. The Syrah is an Australian clone that is rich and silky with dark blue and black fruits. The two clonal selections of Grenache contribute bright red fruit, licorice and great acidity. This wine is 100% de-stemmed and is aged in 60% new French oak on lees for 22 months, contributing to its incredible age ability of 15 plus years.

The star of the show was the 2012 Audacious, an interesting blend of 45% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Grenache that was raised in 50% new French oak (the Grenache saw all larger 500-liter barrels). It offers sensational purity and depth in its cassis, blackberry, graphite, dried earth and dried herbs aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, concentrated, supple and downright sexy, it’s a gorgeous 2012 that makes the most of the these limestone hills west of Paso Robles.
93 Points, Vinous Media - Josh Raynolds
Brilliant ruby. Vibrant blackberry, cherry-vanilla and potpourri scents are complicated by candied licorice and smoky minerals. Pliant, palate-staining dark berry preserve and floral pastille flavors show excellent clarity, with an exotic Asian spice flourish providing lift. Finishes with outstanding lift and cut, with gentle tannins adding shape and focus.

Tightly focused, with a beam of dense, minerally tannins. Aromas of currant and dark Asian spice combine with firm but rich flavors of blackberry, smoky sage and peppered beef. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Best from 2017 through 2028.
